About this tool

What Protect PDF does

Protect PDF adds AES-256 encryption with a password required to open the document. It also sets permissions that discourage copying, modification, and page assembly while allowing accessibility and common reading actions. Encryption happens locally; Talzo does not receive the file or password.

Practical example

A realistic way to use it

Before emailing a private statement, create a protected copy and communicate the password through a different secure channel.

Know before you use it

Supported workflow and limitations

  • PDF permissions are advisory and reader support varies.
  • Encryption cannot protect a weak or carelessly shared password; metadata may remain visible.
